Tempo built the first home fitness system with AI-powered personal training built in — a connected strength-training mirror that uses 3D sensors to coach form, count reps, and personalize workouts in real time. I joined as Head of Marketing & Communications in August 2019, brought on pre-revenue to bring the product to market and stand up every customer-facing function from scratch.
The mandate was end-to-end: define the brand from a blank page, ship the launch narrative, build the team, and put the business on a trajectory worthy of its category-defining product. At $0 in revenue when I started, every channel — paid, owned, earned — had to be built before it could be optimized.
I developed Tempo's positioning, messaging, brand identity, go-to-market strategy, and launch assets — defining how the product would land in a connected-fitness category dominated by spinning bikes and treadmills. The work positioned Tempo as the only strength-training system smart enough to coach you in your living room.
I built and led a 20-person team across brand, growth, creative, and PR, then ran the launch playbook end to end — pre-orders, influencer seeding, paid acquisition, and a media push that landed 100+ press hits across the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Wired, Fast Company, Men's Health, and Forbes.
The combined work moved the business from $0 to a $100M run rate by the end of 2020 and helped secure $60M in Series B funding — the largest round raised by any smart fitness company at the time.
